Content writing is my gig, and I own it!
When I left school, I was sure of a long career as a Shorthand-Typist. I had done my time behind a typewriter (later computer), and transcribed many pages of Teeline shorthand. Followed by over twenty years working in administration, community relations, and communications.
The road to my current career has been a steep learning curve. First, with a focus on heritage research and writing in 2018. Before deciding that content writing would be my new gig.

It was my pleasure to work on the content for a new website Taiao Huru Huri for a former Department of Conservation colleague Charles Barrie.
Charles required content that would introduce his new consultation business and tell his story.
Charles is working with a range of community organisations to establish projects for social and environmental purposes.
VISITOR STORYTELLING
Cooks Cove Walkway (Tolaga Bay) provided the opportunity to tell unique stories of the history of the respective area and the people.
In 2020, I was invited to help DOC staff complete this project. The waharoa/gateway was installed in time for the Tuia250 celebrations in 2019 but the signage was not completed until late 2020.
This project involved project planning research, writing, sourcing images and working with other parties.; local iwi Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti, Historic Places Trust, DOC staff, historians and designers. A series of signs were also installed on the track in 2012.
WAYS TO WELLNESS GUIDE
This project involved creating a wellness guide in brochure form Ways to wellness – Tairawhiti Ha Ara Taiao ki te Ora Tairawhiti available free to help improve your well-being through connecting with nature.
The guide includes five short walks, volunteer opportunities, fun activities with whanau, and discovering your wairua (spiritual) journey.
The content writing aspect of the project involved working with a network of representatives from the Tairawhiti health, environment, recreation, volunteering, disability, iwi, and community development sectors.
CASE STUDY
Ka Hao te Rangatahi Ecological Land Management Training Programme case study was developed to provide a report to the Provincial Development Unit that met the reporting requirements of the He Poutama Rangatahi funding. This project involved a combination of writing, interviewing people, and assimilating resources; images, and content.
Reports
Editing and updating sections of the Te Tapuwae o Rongokako Marine Reserve Operational Plan for the Department of Conservation and Te Tapuwae o Rongokako Marine Reserve Committee.
The Plan is reviewed every five years to allow the marine life, ecosystem integrity, and biodiversity to be restored and protected.
